“After years of traveling, playing rugby, and tasting the best beans the world had to offer, I officially retired from international rugby in 2012, which led to the start of Barney’s Army. Barney’s Army is a platform created to give back in some small way to a game that has given me so much. We started with a game of rugby at the hallowed Kings Park against the Sharks in 2012 and then continued with fundraising efforts to help where we could, with a distinct focus on youth in need” (John Smit)

“Barney’s Blend is an idea that originated after a bottle of wine with good friends. An idea that brought two of my favourite things together – coffee and rugby. We partnered with the Famous Brands Coffee Company to create a coffee blend to help raise funds for an organisation close to my heart: South African Rugby Legends.

South African Rugby Legends is responsible for the development of rugby in our country and currently reaches over 30 000 children each year. Every extra bit of funding helps them bring the greatest game on earth to more children.
